Red Elven Galactic Ranger Corps by Jadeonar Red Elven Galactic Ranger Corps by Jadeonar
Name: Sherawillowei "Willow"
Disposition: Hero
Attitude:
Species: Red Elf
Birthplace: Classified (ExGalactic)
Age: 350
Appearance: Light Maroon / redish skin, pointy elven ears, black hair, ruby eye color, average humanoid height and proportion
Skill: Galactic Law Enforcement - Rangers Corp - Red Elven Galactic Rangers
Special Abilities: Hardiness - Heightened Resistences, Advanced Technology ehnanced sight and tracking, Holographic projection suite (humanoid appearance alteration package)
Mobility: Galaxy-drive enabled personal starship (opposed to standard issue Ranger Corps fleet ship)

Willow used to get sent to Earth often enough that she eventually became fond of the one of many terran planets in the galaxy to have made it her second home. Like most other planets, terran or otherwise, she found Earth has its share of evolved humans - super heroes or mutants "gifted" with extroardinary abilities. Despite the simple and minimalist and archiac appearance of her outfit, it's loaded with the latest standard issue (and some non-standard issue) Red Elven Galactic Ranger Corps technology that allow her to do her part in keeping Earth safe in addition to the rest of the Galaxy. Her suit's holographic system allows her to blend into almost any humanoid species population.

Daz Studio -> Reality 4.3 Plugin -> Luxrender
Victoria 7, Soldiers of Chaos armor, Leyton Hair, Tara & Sasha, Back Alley
Native Luxrender, No postwork save for signature added.

Ok, so I was going for a bit of a Guardians of the Galaxy style vibe on this one :)
Thanks for the favs and comments! :)

Nicely rendered. It's good to see someone using luxrender. Nice material configurations.

Thanks! I like that Reality takes care of most of the converting both 3Delight and Iray textures. And it's a dream to use, being able to tweak camera exposure as well as all lighting realtime while the render keeps running.

Sometimes I use IRay as well, an either-or scenario. Some projects render better with Luxrender, some better with Iray. At least there's the choice to choose between.

Reality is nice and easy to work with for the most part, but I'd still like to see it better integrated into Daz Studio's interface. At the time Reality 4 came out GPU Lux was still pretty hit and miss for things like subsurface scattering. For CPU rendering LuxRender produces the best results.

True, especially when you only have 1 or 2 monitors to work with. There's the daz studio program, the Reality window, and the Luxrender window. on a 3 monitor spread its easy to spread out.

Funny that I originally picked an AMD graphics card to render with Lux initially and ended up just reverting to cpu rendering entirely for both Lux and Iray.

At least Daz Studio has the Reality dedicated interface to do any necessary materials shader tweaking with previews after it does its own conversion process of both 3delight and iray materials. Like I said, in the actual lux render window portion, while rendering its very interactive and intuitive to adjust the separate light sources as well as bloom, etc. (Iray i find i have to stop / pause / cancel render, adjust settings and resume).

Reality needs another update or two though, as more and more Iray materials are becoming standard for daz products by default, it needs to get better at auto-converting them, or the materials library expand and have the equivalent presets ready.

Compared to LuxRender and LuxCore within Carrara before the updates / upgrades for Carrara stopped happening. Having to manually convert and setup the shaders in Carrara was another story entirely, let alone the procedural shaders for the terrain became entirely useless ...  So yeah, its a full 360... started in daz studio, went to carrara exclusively, and now almost exclusively back in daz studio...

I just got the "light manager pro" for DAZ Studio. It has a handy interface that groups all the lights and emissive surfaces together for tweaking. It's handy, but you can't access The main DAZ Studio interface while the script is active, so it doesn't work during the final render, only when the preview is running, which if you have only a cpu running the show, can still take ages to clear up enough to know which lights you want to change, so it is still fairly limited. I'd love to have something like the LuxRender program where you can tonemap and tweak lights on the fly, at any time without having to restart the render.
