This has got to be a growing peeve of mine.
Its nice to see images in the gallery getting viewed. Nice when someone adds an image of mine to their "FAV" lists.
But what would be nice is actually hearing why someone adds it to their FAV list. Surely there must be something they liked about it? Sometimes it would be nice hearing what it is, what they like about it. What was it that caught their eye?
If an image isn't worth the time or effort to comment or compliment the viewer, then it shouldn't be worth the wrist action and 3 seconds it takes to click and drag it to their favourites, when it only takes half a minute or less to leave a kind comment. Or a minute or few to type more than 3 words to make it a sentence or two or few.
Comments are nice to get. It feels nice. And its encouraging, to make and post more.
Lets have a look-see at the Gallery stats... Hmm, my top ranking image has the most views, 3 Favs, and only 1 viewer comment. The second and only other runner up has a total of 4 whopping favourites, and less than half the views, and 1 comment.
If there was at least as many comments as there were "Favs" , that would be at least something.
But when you can effortlessly add images to your Fav list, without even giving a thought about it, it devalues the worth of making it a "Favourite". It just becomes another image like another grain of sand in the person's sand box, no more significant than the next grain of sand. Its like the old saying - "Cheaper by the dozen!". And believe me, that seems to be the motto embraced here, as receiving a Fav and checking who was it in the same day is easy to find that image already far back on the 5th page.
It seems like its even a strained courtesy to even post a "Thanks for the Fav!" comment on the viewer's page anymore. Wow, taking the effort to thank the person for collecting your image on their profile page, when they aren't even required the effort to give you a friendly comment about your "fav'ed" image they added to their list in the first place. And thanking the viewer for making it one of their fav's still doesn't even earn a Your Welcome or even a comment on said image...
So much for friendly courtesy...........

Just for clarification for lack of an edit button...
The number of views per image I get I couldn't care less about.
I often post the higher resolution versions of the images here, since in another gallery I post at, doesn't support high res images. So I always link back to the larger versions here as a courtesy.
Its just the "add to Fav" feature thats annoying. Sure, I get the odd one. But it doesn't mean anything to me more than an emptyness that it is. But comments, compliments or feedback - those actually mean lots.
